Open Night

With 400 visitors attending, our 2026 Open Night was a huge success.Thank you to all of the staff and students who contributed to making it so, whether that was all of the hard work in the background to set up the communications, marketing and booking systems, making our grounds look as inviting as ever, or the teachers and students who presented to and conversed with all of the visitors on the evening.
Such large events like these really only come together through such a massive team effort, and we are so lucky to have such committed, caring and energetic staff and students at Thornbury High School.
Better than anything I could write, this email we received following the event perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere that Open Night creates, and why we should be so proud of all that we do at Thornbury High School.
I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for a wonderful experience at the Open night last week. Honestly, WOW. It was incredible. Arriving to music, a sign in desk, and assigned groups. It was so well organised and welcoming.
The Principal’s speech was AMAZING, heartfelt, authentic, powerful, inspiring. The Year 7 coordinator’s speech was INCREDIBLE, warm, genuine, personal, strong, engaging. The Year 12 student’s speech was a KNOCKOUT.
The Year 7 speeches were PHENOMENAL. Half the adults I know could not deliver a speech that held attention, entertained, informed and inspired like they did…all three speakers because all three were absolutely and equally fantastic, skilled and brave.
