Interschool Sport

Darebin Division
Plenty of fun has been had at the junior sport event days for Volleyball, Cricket and Tennis! We have had keen interest in each of these sports, and the students and teams are to be commended for the way they prepared and performed at them.
Special mention to the teams that won their respective event days and have progressed through to regional finals; Year 8 Boys Cricket, Year 7 Boys Cricket and Year 7 Girls Tennis.
The Darebin Swimming Carnival was held on Tuesday March 3 at Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Our whole team was terrific, including winning 14 events!
One of the many highlights from sport in Term 1 has been the Year 7’s combining so well with their peers in their first term together, making new friends through sport!

Congratulations to our Year 9/10 Girls Cricket team who were runner-up at the NMR Grand Final played on March 10. Playing against a strong Melbourne Girls College team, we made a very competitive total batting first. Captain Annabel top scored with 49*. We were able to take early wickets, led by Jett and Lily. However MGC put together a strong partnership that got them most of the way to the chasing total. They ultimately got our total 7 wickets down.
The NMR Swimming Carnival was on March 26 at WaterMarc. 8 of our students qualified to compete at this event and all performed exceptionally well in what is a quality level of competition.
Special mention to our swimmers that won bronze medals:
- Ava Loecherer - 50 metre Butterfly
- Nacho Fulgence Briceno - 50 metre Freestyle
- 4x50m Freestyle Relay Team - Olivia Munro, Ava Loecherer, Olive Branscombe, Maddie Carr-Howes
