Countdown to Book Week

Book Week is not far away - with celebrations taking place in Week 6 under the theme Symphony of Stories. Much like a symphony brings together different instruments, rhythms, and melodies, the theme celebrates the many voices, genres, and experiences that come together through reading.

As we move closer to the week-long event, The Laurence Library will begin featuring a range of displays inspired by this year’s theme. Keep an eye on the Library space over the coming weeks as these displays begin to take shape! During Book Week, we will also be accepting monetary donations for the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. This initiative was kickstarted by one of our 2026 Library Prefects, Eva Callaghan, and provides our community with an opportunity to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills for young people across Australia.

Students are also encouraged to get organised ahead of Week 6 by borrowing a book that interests them. With allocated reading time taking place during classes throughout the week, choosing something in advance will mean everyone is ready to settle in and enjoy the occasion.  Drop by the Library, explore the shelves and find the next story to add to your own symphony!
