Year 3 News

Welcome to Week 8!

As members of a Catholic community, we are preparing for our Sacrament of Reconciliation. We explored the four important steps of Reconciliation in relation to the scripture story ‘The Prodigal Son’. The steps are to admit our poor choicessay sorryforgive others, and be reconciled with God. Through class discussions, we learned that reconciliation is about recognising when we have made a mistake, saying sorry, and being open to forgiveness. We also discussed how forgiveness helps restore relationships and gives us the chance to start again with an open heart.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held on Thursday, 19th March at 6 pm in our school Church.

As inquirers, we participated in the St John’s Ambulance incursion. We learned important skills to help keep ourselves and others safe. During the session, we learnt how to follow DRSABCD (Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation) so we could respond safely if someone is in danger. We also partnered up to show how to correctly place someone in the recovery position. This experience helped build our confidence and showed us how first aid can make a positive difference when someone needs help.

Reminder

Our year 3 students will be participating in a Bottle Rocket Incursion on Monday 4th of May facilitated by Mr Frazzetto. Mr Frazzetto is kindly asking that each child brings a large plastic bottle from home, that is washed and cleaned, to use for creating a rocket. We would love the bottles to be brought to school before the end of Term 1 so we are ready to design, build and launch our bottle rockets!
