Year 1 News

We have had another wonderful week in the Year 1 learning community! We have been reflective learners and thoughtful writers as we continued building important skills across our learning.

As resilient learners, we continued our mindfulness practices as part of The Resilience Project. After lunch each day, we take part in short moments of meditation to help us feel calm and ready for our afternoon learning. We have also been checking in with our feelings by moving our faces on the Zones of Regulation chart to show how we are feeling throughout the day. We then consider and apply different strategies to help ensure we are in the Green Zone.

As writers, we continued engaging in recount writing. We wrote recounts about our long weekends and practised organising our ideas using the structure of a recount. We have been learning about the different parts of a recount and the types of language that help us retell events in the order that they happened.
