Secondary: ICOM Students Maintain Strong Results in DAV Debating Competition

Students from the Islamic College of Melbourne recently participated in Round 2 of the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) Schools Competition, hosted at Williamstown High School on Tuesday, 28/04.
The evening provided another excellent opportunity for students to strengthen their debating, public speaking, and critical thinking skills through a series of challenging and engaging debates.
ICOM achieved four debate victories during the round, with students demonstrating strong preparation, collaboration, and confidence throughout the competition. In addition to the wins, students benefited greatly from debating against highly competitive schools, including Suzanne Cory High School and Westbourne Grammar School, gaining valuable experience and feedback from adjudicators.
We are especially proud of the following students who received Best Speaker awards in their respective debates:
- Afsheen Anvar
- Syeda Rameen Zehra
- Muhammad Reyhan
- Hadia Maryam Mian
- Shanum Talib
- Uzair Essa Mohamed
Sinobse Mohammednur
Congratulations to all students involved for their commitment, effort, and positive representation of the College. We look forward to the upcoming rounds and continuing to support students in developing their debating skills and confidence.
