Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp at The Summit
Our Year 8 students had an amazing time at The Summit in Trafalgar East, spending two camps from 5–9 October. Each three-day program was designed to help students push themselves, build friendships and contribute to a team spirit outside the classroom.
Students had heaps of fun activities like the Giant Swing, Leap of Faith, High Wire, Jump Free, orienteering and the Snowy River Challenge. Students tackled these with varying levels of confidence, using The Summit’s Target, Stretch and Super Stretch framework to set personal goals. For some, this meant trying something new like climbing a ladder. For others, it meant taking a bigger step, like jumping off an 18m tall tower!
Throughout both camps, students explored The Summit’s Five Keys, such as ‘Make Lots of Mistakes’ and ‘Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable’. These ideas encouraged students to see challenges as opportunities to learn and recognise that progress often comes with a bit of uncertainty and another try.
Team challenges were a great way for students to put these ideas into action. The Monster Course and Snowy River Challenge required teamwork, communication and perseverance. Tug of War added some friendly competition, while the Mud Run offered another chance to work through the obstacles and improve.
The Summit team really appreciated the support students gave each other throughout the programs. Whether it was cheering on a teammate, offering a hand on the High Wire or simply recognising someone’s effort, these contributions made the camp experience even better. Big congratulations to the students who received values awards for their support and positive attitude.
Thank you to the staff who supported both camps and a huge thank you to our Year 8 students for their willingness to participate, encourage each other and try new things.
