Secondary: Careers Update

It has been an outstanding few weeks across our Careers programs, with students at every year level reaching important milestones in their pathway planning.

Our Year 10 cohort has completed another successful round of work experience placements, with students gaining valuable exposure to real workplaces across a wide range of industries. These placements are an essential step in helping our students explore future career pathways and develop workplace readiness, and we are proud of how our Year 10s represented ICOM in their host organisations.

We would like to congratulate Aminah Adnan on an exceptional work experience placement at the University of Melbourne. Aminah spent her placement immersed in a university environment, gaining first-hand insight into phycology PhD students' research in the faculty of phycological sciences.  Her placement is a wonderful example of the opportunities available to our students when they think ambitiously about their future pathways, and we are so proud of the maturity and initiative she showed throughout the experience. Well done, Aminah!

Our annual ICOM Careers Expo, was a fantastic success this year. Students from Years 9–12 had the opportunity to engage with a range of university representatives, industry professionals, and interactive stations, helping them explore pathways and ask questions directly of people working in their fields of interest. A big thank you to all staff involved in the planning and delivery of the day, and to our students for engaging so enthusiastically.

Congratulations also to our Year 12 students on successfully completing their VTAC course preference submissions and SEAS applications. This is a significant milestone in the journey towards post-secondary study, and it reflects the hard work, organisation, and determination of our senior cohort. We wish all our Year 12 students the very best as they await their offers. A huge thank you to all staff, students, and families who supported these programs. It's fantastic to see our students taking real ownership of their futures.
