Y8: ACE Karts Excursion

Year 8 Automotive students visited ACE Karts for a practical lesson in vehicle control and safe driving.

Facility staff introduced students to the basics of operating a kart, including how to use the accelerator and brake effectively. Students also learned how hand-eye coordination supports driving and why remaining alert to their surroundings is essential on the track.

Students then completed three driving sessions, giving them the opportunity to apply what they had learned and improve with each attempt. As they became more confident, they made better decisions about when to accelerate and when to brake.

This improvement was reflected in their results, with students reducing their lap times by an average of nine seconds. The experience gave students a practical understanding of how control and awareness can improve both driving performance and safety.
