School Production

Creating Futures Together

THAT'S A WRAP!

I had the privilege this year of being the director of WHSC’s production of High School Musical. This project took approximately ¾ of year to go from a blank canvas to the final on-stage product. We announced to the school community in October 2024 of our choice of musical, to much excitement from students. Auditions and our first rehearsals were held in the following month.  The 8 months of work culminated in a very successful 7 sold out shows over 10 days.

Our young people deserve much praise and congratulations. They all contributed many hours of work from the immediate outset, which is truly remarkable. To commit to and persist with such a long-term project with consistent energy and attitude is an amazing achievement, and one which all involved should be extremely proud of. In today’s world of fast media and fast fun, that is a true testament to the character of all involved.

I would also like to use this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the incredible people who afforded to me in throughout this project.

To Annie, Kirsty, David, Abbey, Lo, Jacinta, and Andrew; you all provided talent and expertise that I do not possess. These shows simply do not occur without your contributions, so from me and on behalf of all cast and crew, thank you.

To all parent and ex-student volunteers; your commitment to supporting performing arts at WHSC and helping this project run smoothly will have impacts far beyond this year. Thank you for your time and willingness to help.

To the executive leadership, the admin team, and members of the school council; your belief in the production and unconditional support you all provided was instrumental in the production getting off the ground to begin with. Not many people are aware of the time and effort contributed by so many of you, so thank you.

To everyone who purchased a ticket; thank you for your support of the performing arts at WHSC. Every contribution made goes towards making bigger and better shows for years to come.

Finally, to every student member of cast, band and crew; You all made this endeavour worthwhile. Seeing you put in hours of effort and committing to this project with your entire selves was inspirational. You all should be incredibly proud of your achievements. Thank you.

2026 School Production Announced - School of Rock!

Preparations are already underway for next years production of School of Rock, which was announced to the student body at lunch time on Friday 20th of June. WHSC had previously acquired the rights to this musical, but unfortunately were unable to perform it live due to the pandemic in 2021. This will give the class of 2026 (who were in year 7 in 2021) the opportunity to bring this hilarious and exciting show to the WHSC stage, live to a public audience. Auditions will be held in term 4, so keep your eyes open for further announcements!
