Creating Futures Together

Year 8 Superproducts Program - Monash Tech School

Throughout term 2, our Year 8 students stepped into the shoes of designers, engineers and entrepreneurs during the Superproducts Core Program at Monash Tech School. This engaging, hands-on experience is part of our school’s valued partnership with the Tech School and provides students with a unique opportunity to apply their creativity and problem-solving skills to real-world challenges.

The Superproducts program challenged students to reimagine everyday objects using emerging technologies, sustainable design practices, and user-centred thinking. Working in collaborative teams, students explored the design thinking process to develop new and improved product concepts — from smart accessories to environmentally friendly household items.

Along the way, students were introduced to cutting-edge technologies such as laser cutters, 3D printers and computer-aided design (CAD) software. They also experimented with different substances in the lab to create their very own piece of bioplastic from scratch. With guidance from Monash Tech School facilitators and the support of their teachers, students brought their ideas to life through rapid prototyping and iterative testing.

The experience not only helped students deepen their understanding of STEM concepts, but also encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity — all essential skills for success in future learning and careers.

We are proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and innovation shown by our Year 8 cohort, and we thank Monash Tech School for once again delivering such a dynamic and inspiring learning experience.
