Roblox Tightens Safety and Age Verification
Roblox is rolling out new age verification measures — including facial age estimation, ID checks, and verified parental consent — by the end of the year. This marks a major shift away from simple self-declared ages toward verified systems designed to better protect young users.
These new controls will limit communication between adults and minors unless there’s a verified real-world connection, helping to create safer spaces as Roblox’s community continues to grow.
Importantly, Roblox is also acknowledging that risks to children don’t always come from within its platform. Across YouTube, TikTok, and even adult sites, creators are using Roblox’s imagery and brand to produce harmful or sexualized content that targets or attracts children. These aren’t Roblox videos — but they trade on Roblox’s name and the trust parents and kids place in it.
By strengthening identity checks, Roblox is setting clearer boundaries around who can use its platform and how. While this won’t stop all off-platform misuse, it helps reduce the gray areas that allow exploitation to thrive.
In short: Roblox is taking proactive steps to protect its community, safeguard its brand, and model what responsible digital safety should look like — acting before harm, not after it.
