Foundation News

Welcome to Week 4!
Over the last few weeks Foundation students have been busy exploring new sounds in literacy: wh as in whale, th as in thumb, oo as in moon, ng as in ring, and this week ay, as in play. Through fun activities and storytelling, students are learning to identify and use these sounds in their reading and writing.
As part of our Storybook focus last week, students enjoyed listening to the heartwarming story 'My Two Blankets', which inspired lots of great discussion in class as students thought about how much they’ve grown and all the new things they’ve learned this year.
In Maths, students are exploring counting and place value. As part of this unit, students will focus on understanding how two-digit numbers are made up of tens and ones, as well as learning about ordinal numbers. To support this learning, students will use hands-on tools like ten-frames, bundling sticks, and base-10 blocks.
In Religion, students have been preparing for our upcoming liturgy, themed “I am special, so are you.” As part of their preparation, students spent time with their Grade 6 buddies exploring what makes each of us unique, and special.
Families are welcome to join us for our Liturgy on Wednesday morning at 9:15am in the Chapel.
