Arts Excursion

Exploring Future Worlds at ACMI – An Inspiring Arts Excursion
Taylors Lakes Secondary College Student Excellence Program
On Thursday the 24th of April, 50 of our senior Arts students had the incredible opportunity to attend The Future & Other Fictions exhibition at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) in Melbourne. This thought-provoking excursion immersed students in the dynamic intersection of screen culture, visual storytelling, and future-forward creativity.
The Future & Other Fictions is Melbourne’s latest must-see exhibition, celebrating the imaginative power of film, videogames, contemporary art, and interactive media. With over 180 works from 19 visionary artists around the globe, the exhibition invites visitors to step into bold, speculative futures shaped by costume, culture, identity, and technology.
Our students explored a vibrant mix of media—from immersive installations and digital artworks to costume design and short films—experiencing first-hand how future worlds are dreamed up and brought to life. The excursion offered valuable insights into creative processes and global perspectives, sparking rich discussions and fresh inspiration for their own artistic work.
This experience not only deepened students' understanding of contemporary screen culture, but also highlighted the power of the Arts to imagine and influence the future.
A big thank you to Mrs De La Fuente, Ms Birmingham and Ms Rundle for accompanying our students on this excelling learning experience.
