Year 7 Camp

On Wednesday, March 26, 146 Year 7 students and 15 teachers set off for Alexandra Adventure Park, braving the last heatwave of summer. Despite the soaring temperatures, students embraced the challenge, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones, taking the initiatives and supporting one another to achieve something new.
From the moment we arrived, there was no shortage of adventure. Students zoomed across the lake on the flying fox, conquered their fear on the giant swing, and braved their way through the muddy water while canoeing.
They tackled the low ropes and high ropes courses, battled it out in gaga ball and water skirmish, and put their skills to the test in orienteering, archery, and disc golf. No matter the activity, the energy was high, the teamwork was strong, and the determination was inspiring.
The excitement didn’t end when the sun went down. On Wednesday night, students embarked on a night walk under the stars, led by Mr. Wilson, roasted marshmallows by the campfire, and tested their knowledge in trivia, hosted by the dynamic duo of Ms. Clark and Ms. D’Agata.
The night wrapped up with an energetic round of karaoke, where students and teachers belted out all-time favourites like I Want It That Way, Love Story, Let It go and many more, turning the campsite into a full-blown concert! On Thursday night, everyone cooled down with a movie night, enjoying Inside Out 2 after a full day of activities.
As teachers, we were incredibly proud of the way every Year 7 student embraced the challenges of camp. Camp staff even commented on how our students went out of their way to express their gratitude - true reflections of the respect, commitment, and teamwork within our Year 7 cohort. Well done to each and every one of you!
We can't wait to see this standard of excellence continue throughout the year.

“On the first day of camp, we were all wondered if it would be a good and fun experience. The three-hour bus ride was tough. We finally got to the resort and the scenery was beautiful. We were taken on a short tour by the staff member at the resort, showing us our cabins and activity areas. We then headed off to our first activity.
The activities that we participated in were high ropes, low ropes, giant swing, water skirmish, flying fox, orienteering, gaga ball, and canoeing. It was really fun! The muddy water kept claiming our shoes and crocs, trapping it deeply in the mud. The food was really good as well. Overall, it was a fun experience.”

“On Wednesday, 26th – 28th of March, around 150 Year 7 students went to camp and had an amazing time bonding together and making long lasting memories.
One of my favourite activities was gaga ball. This was because everyone was working as a team to cheer the last few players on. I also enjoyed getting to know new people in my group as other activities were being held.
Things like low ropes and high ropes and even a water skirmish, which I really enjoyed. Overall, my time at Year 7 camp was excellent. I would really love to go back some day.”

“My experience in camp was an amazing adventure. The camp included a variety of activities and games, keeping us entertained and busy for the majority of camp. l enjoyed playing Gaga ball with my activity group because of the fast-paced skills required to win the game. There was other fun activities such as flying fox and water skirmish. I also enjoyed the night walk, where we ventured through the land with the guidance of Mr Wilson. If our school is given this opportunity again, I would recommended students to participate in the camp.”

“As I was sitting on the bus, feeling ready, my body started to fill up with excitement. Finding out our cabins was the hardest part, not being with all the girls but still be able to make new friends was definitely the best experience.
Playing gaga ball reminded me of my last year in primary school. Don’t forget to mention the water skirmish. We were all drenched, our socks were soaking wet and mushy. My whole body was trembling as I stepped closer to the edge of the platform. I gathered all my courage and zoomed across the lake on the flying fox, conquering my fear. It was so fun!
The movie night was the best part of this camping experience, we got to spend time with our friends, talking and laughing. It made my night. The camp food was also really good. Leaving the campsite on Friday was sad because of all the fun we had, but it was the best!”
