Future Conservation Leaders

Empowering Future Conservation Leaders
We are delighted to share that Max of 9I, has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2025 Zoos Victoria Youth Conservation Leaders program! Running through May and June, this program offers Year 9/10 students from across the state a unique opportunity to develop their leadership potential while deepening their knowledge of wildlife conservation.
Zoos Victoria’s Youth Conservation Leaders program is designed for emerging science leaders and passionate wildlife conservation champions. Participants will gain hands-on experience in animal conservation, engage in scientific research, and learn how to lead and inspire others in protecting our environment. Over 11 days, Max and other selected students will attend workshops, seminars, and mentoring sessions, working closely with Zoos Victoria experts and conservationists. They will also undertake a science research project aimed at informing a real-world conservation initiative.
Max is a passionate advocate for reptiles and has a particular fascination with Komodo dragons and their conservation. His deep interest in these incredible creatures has fuelled his commitment to protecting threatened species and understanding how ecosystems function. Through this program, Max will develop essential skills in leadership, science communication, and conservation, which will serve him well beyond the program. He will also gain a deeper appreciation of First Peoples’ connections to the land and how traditional knowledge can inform sustainable conservation efforts.
We congratulate Max on this incredible achievement and look forward to seeing how he applies his newfound knowledge and skills to inspire change within our school and broader community!
