INTERMEDIATE BOYS CRICKET ROUND ROBIN

On Monday 20 February Years 9 & 10 Boys ventured to Caulfield Park. The format of the day was 2 or 3 pool games (8 overs each).

In Game 1 we put on a strong batting display against Parkdale - punctuated for some lusty hitting from Finn Sharp (Year 10), making a brisk 18 off 4 balls (3 x 6s) our total was a little too much for Parkdale, with a very solid bowling display from Sam Bailey (Year 10) and Alexander Rowe Hansen (Year 10). Game 2 we took on a well drilled Mordi team. Mordi batted first and did the basics well, kept out the good balls and punished anything full or short. Mordi we able to put up 92 off their 8 overs.

We made a watchful start with Sam Bailey (Year 10) and Archie Hooper-Duffy (Year 10) opening. Archie was out early, and Finn Sharp (Year 10) looked to replicate his opening game performances.

Needing more than 12 an over from our last 5 overs, Sam got into gear, stoking 5 glorious sixes, and Finn chimed in with a couple himself.

We needed 25 off the last 2 overs, not unfathomable on a small ground, however we stumbled in the penultimate over, which ultimately meant we fell 9 runs short.

Game 3 was a very comprehensive win against a developing Sandy side.

Unfortunately, due to incurring a loss during the day, we do not progress through to the next round.

Thank you to James Bridges for his coordination of the event, and Andrew Krause for being our photographer for the day.

INTERMEDIATE GIRLS CRICKET

The girls put up a mean fight in a tough competition. Taking on pool B we were up against Mordialloc which we fell short by 7 runs. Dominique Campbell (Year 10) and Subira Seymour (Year 9) making a great batting partnership.

Heading over to the second game we defeated Beaumaris by 6 runs, with again another strong batting partnership from Olivia Smith (Year 9) and Subira Seymour. Impressive bowling by Gloris George (Year 10), Pia Landini (Year 9), Sarah Lyon (Year 9) and Abbie Slaughter (Year 9) provided us with the victory.

Unfortunately the girls lost out of finals by 0.5% allowing Beaumaris to go through to the finals.

DUKE OF ED: CAMP COOKING

On Friday 3 March 2023, students in Year 9 used an outdoor camping stove/pot to cook a food of their choice on the grass near East Campus. Just like camping/hiking, the students brought their own ingredients and cut and prepared the food to eat. It was a preparation for our hike so that we could get used to cooking outdoors on our own.

Our group learned how to set up and use the stove/pot safely and to be careful around it. My group and I made gnocchi with broccoli, carrots, and pasta sauce. Meanwhile, others made things like pasta and soup. This was a great experience to learn more about basic skills to help us achieve our best on the hike.
