DIGITAL DESIGN IN YEAR 9

In Year 9 Visual Communication Design this term we have been learning how to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. We first learned how to use the Pen tool in Adobe Illustrator, and then used this knowledge to design and create graphic illustrations of food. It gave us the freedom to be as creative as we wanted, and experiment with cropping images, creating patterns, using colours and experimenting with layouts.

We traced a scan of our own drawings using the Pen tool, then applied colour to create a finished design. We were then asked to create different variations of our illustrations, by altering the use of colour, or repeating the design to create a pattern. It was enjoyable and challenging to practice using new media for our design in this task.

We are now working in Adobe Photoshop to practise using the clipping mask and brush tool to render and depict form and tone on 2D shapes. This assisted our understanding of shadows and objects.

We have learned so much by experimenting with various types of media, challenging ourselves to think outside the box as well as improving our creative abilities.
