Victorian Schools Year 9 Boys Netball Championships
Congratulations to the Year 9 Boys Netball Team who competed at the Sandhurst Division Intermediate Boys competition. The team won both of their matches and qualified for the School Sports Victoria Loddon Mallee Regional Final being held in Echuca. Representing the Sandhurst Division, the team played two matches in Echuca walking away with a win and a loss.
The students then competed at the Victoria Schools Netball Championship in Bendigo on Friday 9th August. The students played some wonderful netball proving too strong for the competition and winning through to the Victorian Schools Netball Championship finals in Melbourne on Friday 13th of September. For many players, this has been the first opportunity to play competitive Netball. It is amazing to see how quickly they have picked up different nuances within the game, and how enthusiastic and willing they have been to learn. Good luck with the upcoming finals competition in Melbourne.

Sandhurst Junior Girls Hockey
Congratulations to the Junior Girls Hockey team for winning the Sandhurst Division Junior Hockey competition on Thursday 8th of August. The girls were undefeated all day with many of the new players scoring goals. The team will now represent the Sandhurst Division at the School Sports Victoria Loddon Mallee Regional Finals on Thursday 24th of October. Well done to all students, playing well together as a team and persevering with enthusiasm despite some wet and windy conditions.
ICCES Football
Girton entered four teams in the ICCES football competition on Wednesday 14th August. The boys played at Melton and the boys competed at Bacchus Marsh. Special thanks to our team of staff who assisted on the day under the leadership of our football MiC, Mr Clint Whitsed.

Sandhurst Division Basketball
Sandhurst Division Junior Basketball day is always a very exciting and competitive day for our teams.
The Year 7 boys had a good day winning 1 game, improving as the day went on and will only get better for the experience. Year 7 girls won 2 of their 3 pool games to make the semi-final where they were defeated by the eventual winner.
Our Year 8 boys and girls teams both all of their pool games so qualified for to the Grand Final. The year 8 Girls lost by 9 points and the boys lost by the solitary 1 point. The Boys game had 4 seconds to go when the other side received free throws, it was hard for our boys to watch the player put both of the shots in. They were very disappointed after the game.
All teams should be very proud of themselves for their efforts and sportsmanship. Thank you to our coaches Mr Dean Norris, Mr Darren Burn, Tadi Masiboy (11Jo), Patrick Woods (12R) and Nash Dignan (9R).
