Athletics Carnival

and Sports Update

Semester 1 has been full of highlights from a sporting perspective. After 2 interrupted years for sport, it has been wonderful to see students participating and challenging themselves in sports teams, Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, and Cross Country.

The Swimming Carnival saw many students challenge themselves to score points for their House and we saw a number of long held records broken. Callistemon was the winning House on a very close day. Well done to the students who progressed through the District Swimming to represent the school at the Regional Swimming Finals.

The Athletics Carnival was held during Term 2 and it was a welcome sight to see the whole school together and challenging themselves in the many different events. For the first time, students from Jacaranda House (newly arrived students) participated and scored points for their House. There was an excellent level of participation over the course of the day and a great sense of school and House spirit. Callistemon was the winning House after another close day. The District Athletics Carnival is held in Term 3 for students who won their events and they will get the opportunity to compete against neighbouring schools in their events.

There has been a successful return to Interschool Sport this year, with many students working and training together to compete against local schools. We have had a lot of success particularly from our Volleyball teams and Soccer teams who are progressing to the Regional Finals. Well done to those students and coaches. Please look out for more sport opportunities next term. The sports on offer are Futsal (indoor soccer), Table Tennis, Basketball and Hockey. Please get involved and try out.
