St Patrick’s College, the Kelty Resource Centre and the CW Club is entering a team in the 'Write a Book in a Day' program, a national initiative of the Kids' Cancer Project.
Five to ten students will work together for 12 hours straight to write and illustrate a book entirely their own. On 23 August, with no chance to prepare, the team must co-operate to create their literary masterpiece. They will raise money for kids’ cancer research, and their completed book will be delivered to sick kids in hospitals - they'll make a real difference.
But we need your help!
Each team must raise a minimum of $240 to enter the program. Not only is this a fantastic cause, but the students can’t do it without you! To contribute to this wonderful initiative, and raise money for kids’ cancer research, please click here.
For more information, email KRC Librarian and team co-ordinator Claire Garrett at cgarrett@stpats.vic.edu.au.
Last Friday the SPC SAGERS (Environmental Justice) group ditched the classroom for the paddock as part of their efforts to protect the environment.
The group travelled to Smythes Creek with likeminded students from Loreto College and planted 500 plants to help restore habitat, reduce erosion and abate greenhouse gas emissions.
Mr David Neate from the Landcare group had this to say about our students:
“Thank you on behalf of our Landcare Group for bringing along such competent and focused student teams to help us with the Tree Day planting at the Prehns' property. It was certainly amazing to see how quickly the job got completed.”
SPC Friends of Rowing invites you to an Olympic-themed trivia night on Saturday, 10 August, to raise funds for a new boat for the rowing program. See below for more info. Tickets via TryBooking. Scan the QR code or click on the link.
