Year 3 News
Welcome to Week 9!
As members of a faith community, we prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation by participating in a retreat day facilitated by Ms Gasbarro. We attended Mass as a year level and discussed the importance of receiving the Sacrament.
On Thursday night, we celebrated our Sacrament of Reconciliation with our families. This special and reflective experience allowed students to share their forgiveness with Father and highlighted the importance of making things right with others in the future. Thank you to our parent community for encouraging and guiding your children during this important milestone.
As mathematicians, we have begun learning about Multiplication & Division. We have been exploring multiplication as repeated addition and learning how to recognise equal groups in everyday situations. We have also been practising division by sharing and grouping objects, helping us understand the connection between multiplication and division.
Please encourage your child to continue practising their timetables at home as part of home learning.
- According to the Victorian Curriculum, by the end of Year 3, students must recall and demonstrate proficiency with multiplication facts for 3, 4, 5 and 10; and apply facts to develop the related division facts.
As inquirers, students have been learning about the importance of Harmony Week and what it means to live together respectfully in a diverse community. We discussed how everyone belongs and how we can show kindness, respect and understanding towards others. We also spent time learning about the significance of our school Peace Pole. The Peace Pole carries the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” and reminds us of the importance of peace, harmony and respect for all people.
