Education in Faith

Dear Parents and Carers,
Dear Lord,
On this Palm Sunday, we join the crowds of Jerusalem in welcoming
You into our lives. We wave our palms and cry,
"Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!".
We praise You, not as a worldly king, but as the humble
King of Kings who came to save us. Open our hearts to Your reign,
that we might follow Your example of sacrifice, humility,
and love during this Holy Week.
Lord, give us the strength to follow
You through this week’s journey of suffering,
and to share in the joy of the resurrection.
Keep us faithful, for Your love endures forever.
Hosanna in the highest!
Amen
Celebrating Holy Week
As we prepare for Holy Week, we warmly invite parents and carers to join us in celebrating these significant and sacred events in our Church calendar. Holy Week is a special time for reflection, prayer, and coming together as a faith community as we journey through the story of Jesus’ Passion, death, and resurrection.
Throughout the week, students will participate in meaningful liturgies and reenactments, helping them to deepen their understanding of these important events. Your presence and support make these celebrations even more special for our children, and we look forward to sharing this sacred time with you. The liturgies will take place on the following dates and times:
Palm Sunday, Monday 2.45 pm at St Fidelis church
Holy Thursday, Tuesday 2.45 pm at St Fidelis church

St Patricks mass
Last Friday, our Year 6 leaders proudly attended a special Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate the feast of St Patrick, joining with the wider community in prayer and reflection. This celebration was particularly meaningful as it took place during Catholic Education Week, a time when we recognise the value and importance of Catholic schooling.
During the Mass, students reflected on the life of St Patrick and his message of faith, courage and service to others. Our Year 6 leaders represented our school with reverence and respect, participating beautifully in the celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to grow in their faith and to celebrate what it means to be part of a Catholic school community.
On Friday, the 20th of March, all the year 6 leaders went to St Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate the feast of St Patrick. When we arrived at the Cathedral, we were seated, and there was a parade of people, from different schools, carrying a banner representing what school they were from.
After the parade, the students took part in the celebration of Mass. The Mass was dedicated to St. Patrick.
After mass, we had a snack and took lots of photos. We then went into the Cathedral and looked at all the different stations of the Catholic Church members. While exploring the church, we found Archbishop Daniel Mannix, whose name is one of our house colours, and who blessed our school in 1927, when it was first opened. All the leaders headed to the nearby park for lunch, and we also played and enjoyed all the activities provided for us. We finished off our day by walking back to Parliament Station to catch the train back to Strathmore Station, where our parents picked us up.
I really enjoyed going to the Cathedral, especially representing St Fidelis. I learnt so much being there about the church and St. Patrick. It was such a good day being with all the other Grade 6 school leaders, and we’ve built such a great friendship with each other since Prep. I think we all enjoyed our day in the city equally. Thanks for the opportunity that my school has given us all.

On the 20th of March, all the year 6 leaders went to St. Patrick's Cathedral for a St. Patrick's Mass in the city, with over 100 Catholic primary and secondary schools attending.
At the cathedral, Skyler and I represented our school by carrying the school banner. When Skyler and I walked into the cathedral, there were two people playing the bagpipes, and it sounded great! After Skyler and I walked around the cathedral, we went outside, put the banner down, and were seated with all the other banner holders. Then the mass started.
The mass was so good, even with a live orchestra. After the mass, Skyler and I found our banner and went outside to take a photo with all the other schools and the Archbishop. They took the photo with a drone! Then Skyler and I found the rest of the leaders, had a quick bite to eat, and set off for a short walk to the park. At the park, there was live music, friendly soccer matches, and so much more! Overall, a fun day with an amazing experience!

Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation
Last Thursday, our Year 3 children celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The celebration was a beautiful and prayerful experience, filled with a sense of peace and renewal. We are very proud of the way our students embraced this important milestone, and we thank our families for their ongoing support. We extend our thanks to Father Brendan and Father Tien for the beautiful celebration and ongoing support.
Caritas Australia
During Lent, Caritas Australia leads Project Compassion, encouraging us to live our faith through action by supporting vulnerable communities. As Lent comes to an end, we kindly ask that all Project Compassion money boxes be returned to school. Thank you to the families who have already contributed—your generosity makes a real difference.
