UPDATE HOME LEARNING POLICY FOR 2026
As part of our commitment to strong home–school partnerships, our Home Learning was reviewed last year, and our approach has been developed in collaboration with our School Advisory Board, with valuable input and feedback from parents and teachers. Together, we worked to shape a consistent and supportive approach to home learning across all year levels. Spelling has been included as a key component following parent feedback, with a shared understanding that this is an important area for the school to prioritise. Recent NAPLAN results were also considered in this review.
We understand that students and families have many commitments outside of school and that learning can take place in a variety of meaningful ways beyond formal home learning tasks. Parents know their child best, and we value the role families play in supporting learning in ways that suit their child and family routines.
Through discussions with parents and the School Advisory Board, it was also recognised that home learning can play an important role in helping students develop positive routines, organisation and learning habits as they move through primary school and prepare for the transition to secondary school.
We decided that home learning is strongly encouraged, and parents are welcome to complete the parts they feel will best support their child’s development. Parents and teachers felt that home learning expectations needed to be more structured and more closely monitored by teachers to help build independence and responsibility. Teachers will also differentiate learning, including home learning tasks where needed, to support students who require adjustments, ensuring all learners can continue to progress.
The overview below outlines the key components of home learning at each stage of your child’s education.
