Welcome back to another exciting year in Performing Arts at Roxy!
We will be starting the year with a very special visit from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra who are coming to our school to conduct some fun workshops with all students! Children from Prep to Grade 6 will have the opportunity to watch and listen to the musicians, and also play along with them.
Preps have started the term with an introduction to the different ways of making sounds (voice, body percussion, instruments) and the different types of sounds we can make (loud, soft, short, long).
In Grade 1/2, students will be exploring different types of puppetry. They have begun experimenting with creating role and situation using their voices and hand puppets, and will work towards creating and presenting a puppet show in small groups.
Grade 3/4s have begun a unit on tuned percussion instruments. Each class will begin learning a song together, with students playing different individual parts (bass, melody, harmony etc) to make up the whole.
The Grade 5/6s are launching into a project on podcasting! Students will be selecting an artist and telling their story through a podcast episode. They will explore all areas of podcast creation, including research, scripting, digital composition, and audio recording.
