Year 7 Backyard Design Project Takes Shape!
Our Year 7 students have made a fantastic start to their Backyard Design Project in Mathematics.
Students spent time planning and developing their backyard designs online, using their mathematical thinking to turn their ideas into creative and practical outdoor spaces.
There were plenty of imaginative designs, with students showing great enthusiasm as they considered how to include the different features required for their project.
This project provided students with an opportunity to apply their Mathematics skills in a hands-on and creative way, while also developing their skills in planning, measurement, spatial thinking and problem-solving.
It was wonderful to see so many students engaged, enthusiastic and excited about bringing their ideas to life. The planning stage has given students a strong foundation for the next step of the project.
Students will begin building their backyard models, with construction and finishing touches continuing during the first week of Term 4.
We look forward to seeing these creative backyard designs develop into fantastic, finished models!

QuickSmart
Overview of program:
QuickSmart is an intervention program designed to support students in developing greater confidence, fluency and accuracy in their basic mathematics skills.
The program focuses on helping students develop automatic recall of multiplication facts, providing them with a strong foundation to tackle the more complex problem-solving skills they will encounter throughout secondary school.
Students selected to participate in QuickSmart attend two sessions each week, with each session running for approximately 30 minutes.
Sessions begin with a quick review of focus number facts, followed by a range of engaging activities, including flash cards, a speed sheet challenge, independent worksheets and an online quiz.
Since the beginning of the year, it has been wonderful to see the growth in both confidence and results among our QuickSmart students. Their progress is a fantastic reflection of the effort, persistence and positive attitudes they bring to each session.
