Careers & Pathways – September 2026
Term 3 – A Very Busy Term in Careers & Pathways!
Term 3 has been an incredibly busy term in the Careers & Pathways space, with lots happening across the College.
A large part of the term has been dedicated to individual subject counselling with students in Years 9–11, as they make decisions about their subjects and pathways for 2027. It has been wonderful to meet with students individually, discuss their interests, strengths and future goals, and help them consider the many different pathways available to them.
These conversations have taken up much of the term, and it has been great to see students thinking carefully about their future and beginning to make plans for the next stage of their education and career journey.
Learning Mentor Program – Australian Defence Force Visit
As part of our Learning Mentor Careers Program, students had the opportunity to hear from representatives from the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Leading Seaman Alex Page, Acoustic Warfare Analyst Submariner with the Royal Australian Navy and Sergeant Jack Bromhead Chef with the Royal Australian Army.
The session provided students with information about the wide range of career opportunities available within the ADF, including training pathways, apprenticeships, university pathways and the different roles available across the services.

Career Action Plans – A Reminder for Students
A reminder to all students that their Career Action Plan should be completed. There was time allocated in Learning Mentor Classes however if you have not yet completed the school holidays could be a good time to finalise this.
Students can log into their Careers Tools account to access and complete their Career Action Plan if they have not already done so.
Career Action Plans are a great opportunity for students to reflect on their interests, skills and goals and begin planning for their future.
Year 12 – VTAC Applications
For our Year 12 students, VTAC applications are now underway.
Key VTAC Dates
📅 28 September 2026 – Timely VTAC Applications Close
Students wishing to apply through VTAC are strongly encouraged to submit their application by the timely application deadline. After this date, you can still apply however the application fee goes from $83 to $166.
I will be available at school on Monday 28 September to support Year 12 students who need assistance finalising and submitting their timely VTAC application while they are here for their practice exams.
If you are unsure about your course preferences, application or what you need to complete, please come and see me.
SEAS & Scholarships
📅 9 October 2026 – SEAS and Scholarship Applications Close
Students applying through VTAC should also consider applying for:
- SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)
- VTAC Scholarships
These applications have their own requirements and deadlines, and the closing date will not be extended.
We strongly encourage all students who are applying through VTAC to explore SEAS and scholarship opportunities and complete any applications that may be relevant to them.
