Scoresby Secondary College Promotes Respect, Relationships and Understanding.
Our students recently had the opportunity to take part in engaging and thought-provoking sessions presented by Project Rockit exploring important issues around respect, relationships, bullying, inclusion and the ways we interact with others.
Our Year 7 and Year 8 students participated in workshops focused on what it means to treat others with care, respect and thoughtfulness. Students explored topics such as bullying, respectful communication, positive relationships and how our words and actions can affect those around us.
Through a range of discussions and activities, students were encouraged to share their own experiences, consider different perspectives and develop practical strategies for responding to challenging situations.
Our Year 9, 10 and 11 students participated in a session exploring the manosphere and misogyny, providing an opportunity to consider how online communities and social media can influence attitudes towards gender, relationships and respect.
Students were encouraged to think critically about the messages they encounter online and to discuss how these influences can shape behaviours, expectations and interactions with others.
A particularly valuable aspect of the sessions was the opportunity for students to have their voices heard. Students shared their experiences, exchanged ideas and respectfully challenged each other's thinking.
These conversations encouraged students to consider not only what they think, but also how they can contribute to creating safer, more respectful and inclusive environments.
The sessions highlighted that everyone has a role to play in building positive relationships. By showing empathy, thinking before we speak or act, standing up when something is not right and supporting those around us, we can all contribute to a school community where people feel respected, valued and included.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Project Rockit for visiting Scoresby Secondary College and providing our students with the opportunity to engage in such relevant and meaningful conversations.
We would also like to give a special thank you to Ricky and Miss King for presenting to our Year 10 students and facilitating such thoughtful and important discussions around the manosphere, misogyny, respect and healthy interactions.
These conversations are an important part of helping our students navigate the challenges they encounter both within our school community and in the wider world.
