This fortnight in STEM, our Prep students have had a very exciting start to the term as they begin their journey using iPads. We have been focusing on unpacking expectations and routines to ensure students can use the devices safely, responsibly, and confidently in the classroom.
Students have been learning about the different parts of an iPad, including how to handle, carry, and care for the device. They explored key hardware features such as the camera, home button, and volume controls, building their confidence as independent users. A highlight has been creating their very own iPad licences, where students demonstrated their understanding of safe and responsible use.
We have also been exploring our learning behaviours across all specialist classes and what this looks like in each space. Our focus has been on three key areas: behaviour in class, effective use of learning time, and effort towards learning. In STEM, this means being organised and ready to learn, showing engagement, listening carefully to instructions, and completing work to the best of our abilities. Students are also encouraged to challenge themselves and take pride in their learning.
Students have been introduced to a learning behaviour rubric to support their understanding and help them reflect on their progress. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing confidence as they develop these important skills.
