Music with a mission
On Thursday 17 September, our College string quartet had the privilege of performing at the Royal Yacht Club for a fundraising event hosted by the Zonta Club.
Led by string tutor Rebekah Grice, the talented ensemble provided beautiful background music to welcome arriving guests.
The event raised vital funds for the Kennerley Kids Moving On Program, an initiative dedicated to supporting young women transitioning out of foster care by providing grants toward their ongoing education.
We are exceptionally proud of our students for using their musical talents to support such a meaningful cause in our community!
A sweet welcome to the next chapter
Our Year 12 students were well and truly spoilt today as our Alumni Association hosted a special luncheon for the Class of 2026.
Students gathered in the Mary Morgan Wing to enjoy a classic hot lunch of fish and chips, catered by Murphy's Café, before tucking into an amazing spread of homemade desserts lovingly prepared by our alumni family.
It was a lovely, relaxed afternoon and the perfect setting for our Association members to welcome our soon-to-be graduates as the newest generation of SMC alumni.
Over sweet treats and shared memories, our guests relished the opportunity to pass along encouragment, words of wisdom and some fond stories from their own school days.
To our Year 12s: as you prepare to step beyond the school gates and into your next chapter, remember that no matter where life takes you, you will always have a home, a community and a place of belonging here at St Mary's College.
Our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Margaret Rootes, Mrs Jane Short and Mrs Anne Morrison for organising this wonderful luncheon and to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special milestone.
Certificate II Tourism students get a taste of Midlands history
Our Certificate II Tourism students recently enjoyed an excursion to Oatlands, soaking up the historic charm and unique sights of this iconic midlands township.
Throughout the day, the group explored key heritage landmarks, including the famous Callington Mill, the historic Commissary and Jail, Elm Cottage and Lake Dulverton.
The students also gained valuable insights into regional tourism operators by browsing local antique shops and sampling delicious treats at the Pancake and Crepe Shop.
It was a wonderful opportunity to experience firsthand how history and hospitality come together to drive local tourism!
