Spring fairies take flight

Gallery Image

Last Wednesday was a 'fairy' special day for our Kinders, who arrived at school spellbound to find their classroom transformed into a whimsical wonderland.

At SMC, we mark Fairy Day alongside the spring equinox – a tradition that welcomes spring while encouraging outdoor exploration and imagination in our early years.

Every nook offered something for our Kinder students to explore: fairytale castles and cosy cubbies adorned with ribbons and sequins, alongside busy stations for brewing flower tea, mixing bubbles, concocting marvellous mixtures, decorating glitter cookies, crafting wands, colouring-in and dancing on the deck.

Dressed in their finest wings, tutus and flower crowns, our littlest learners had a field day fluttering from one activity to the next, capping off the celebration with a delightful afternoon tea.

Thank you to our amazing Kinder teaching team – our very own fairy godmothers – for bringing the magic to SMC and weaving wonder, curiosity, imagination and creativity into everything they do.

Forces in motion at West Hobart Train Park

On Monday 21 September, our Year 1 Penguins and Echidnas waddled up to the West Hobart Train Park on a mission of scientific discovery.

To put their learning about push, pull and motion forces to the test, the students critically analysed and observed local playground equipment in action – entirely for research purposes, of course.

What a fun way to bring science into the real world!

Ella Haddad MP visits Year 6

Gallery Image

Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit with local Member of Parliament, Ella Haddad.

Our future parliamentarians described it as a fantastic opportunity to learn firsthand how Tasmania’s State Parliament functions and get an insider’s look into a day in the life of a politician.

On behalf of the Year 6 cohort, thank you, Ms Haddad, for taking the time to speak with us!
