Climate Canons

National Ride2School Day
National Ride2School Day WA took place on Friday 20 March 2026 to celebrate and encourage children to choose the healthiest and most fun way to travel to school – on bikes! The Climate Canons encouraged all modes of sustainable transport and on Tuesday 24 March held a survey to find out how students are travelling to school and support them in this travel. Thank you to all the students who participated in the survey. We encourage all students to consider environmentally friendly modes of transport whenever they can.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day is an annual Australian celebration to celebrate cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and respect, under the theme "everyone belongs". It coincides with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, highlighting the need to combat racism. Wednesday 25 March saw the College community come together to unite in “harmony” exploring all our different cultures. The Climate Canons ran a stall looking at all the incredible environments in countries all over the world and challenged the students to care for our common home.
Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a global WWF initiative where millions switch off non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and nature loss. Held annually on the last Saturday of March from 8:30pm to 9:30pm local time, the 2026 event took place on March 28, celebrating 20 years of action. The St Norbert College community observed this hour during Period 3 on Friday 27 March where classes turned off lights, didn’t use projector screens and considered their daily energy use and where they could save energy in their homes. Thanks to all the teachers and classes that got involved!
