Year 7

Year 7 Social - The Amazing Race
While our new parents were connecting with other Year 7 families and our Parent Committee, our Year 7 students gathered in the O’Reilly Centre for a lively and fun-filled social evening. Led by teachers and our Student Representative Council, students took part in an “Amazing Race”-style competition, tackling a variety of challenges across 15 stations that tested both their thinking and teamwork.
From crowd favourites like Eat That Oreo, Build Me A Pyramid and Triple Ping Pong, there was no shortage of laughter and energy. More importantly, each activity provided a wonderful opportunity for students to collaborate, support one another and begin forming new friendships.
It has been fantastic to see our Year 7s settling into high school life with such enthusiasm, building connections and creating memories that will last well beyond their first term.
As we reach the end of Term 1, it is wonderful to reflect on what has been a busy and exciting start to the year for our Year 7 students.
Throughout the term, students have been actively building their confidence and independence as they adjust to new routines, teachers, and expectations. They have been learning how to navigate the school environment, manage their timetables, and develop effective organisational skills. It has been fantastic to see students forming new friendships, strengthening existing ones, and embracing the opportunities that come with this new chapter.
A key focus this term has been supporting students’ wellbeing and sense of belonging. Through our Year 7 Transition Program, particularly during the initial weeks of high school, students were guided and supported as they settled into their new environment. Recent highlights of the term included the Year 7 Social and The Retreat and Activity Day, which provided valuable opportunities for connection and community building.
Students have also benefited from time spent with their Year 11 Peer Support mentors during Homeroom, where they have received guidance with organisation and navigating high school life. It has been wonderful to see students immerse themselves in the broader life of the school, joining clubs, trialling for sports teams and dance troupes, and showing strong House spirit through their participation in the Inter-House Swimming Carnival.
In addition, students have taken part in important community and faith experiences, including the Community Mass, Harmony Day, Benediction, Whole School Mass, and most recently, the Stations of the Cross. These shared experiences have helped to strengthen their sense of belonging within the school community.
Looking ahead to Term 2, students will return in their full winter uniform, including their blazers, and continue to build on the positive start they have made. Early in the term, students will participate in the Inter-House Cross Country, followed by the much-anticipated St Norbert Day celebrations on Friday 5 June.
Thank you to the many families who attended the Year 7 Parent Information Evening on Monday 23 March. Your support and involvement are greatly valued. A feedback form will be shared early in Term 2 to gather your thoughts on the new format and location of the evening. For those families who were unable to attend, a copy of the resources provided will be sent home with your child.
Thank you for entrusting your children to us and we look forward to continuing to work alongside you in supporting your child’s learning and wellbeing throughout Term 2.
