VET in action at SNC

Year 11 and 12 students undertaking the Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation recently put their skills into practice by leading an engaging activity afternoon for Year 7 students. The senior students were responsible for planning and delivering a variety of activities, focusing on communication and teamwork, therefore creating a positive and energetic environment for all participants.

This hands-on experience formed an important part of their learning in the units Facilitate Groups (SISXPLD004) and Deliver Recreation Sessions (SISXPLD002). It provided students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, while developing key skills in leadership, communication, organisation, and teamwork.

Importantly, the session also allowed students to be observed and assessed as they facilitated and delivered activities, ensuring they met the practical requirements of their coursework. The afternoon was a valuable learning experience for the senior students, while also promoting active participation, enjoyment, and positive connections with the Year 7 cohort.
