Callistemon House

Hey Everyone! I’m Zainab R, an incredibly proud student who has been elected as your Year 9 Callistemon SRC for the third year in a row!

For me, being part of the SRC is about more than just representing our House or receiving a badge, but it’s about hearing the creative ideas that are brought up to us, coming together as a community, and helping create events and fundraisers that make school life more memorable for all year levels. I really enjoy being part of such a team that can turn small ideas into something the whole House can get involved in.

Term 3 is here! I hope everyone had a calm and relaxing break, spent time with family, and hopefully finished some holiday homework :). But what matters most is feeling refreshed and prepared for another exciting and busy term that's ahead of us!! We've got a BIG few months ahead, with plenty of opportunities to get involved, and challenge yourself. We are thrilled to welcome Ms McLure, our new House Leader! We can’t wait to work with her this term and continue to build a strong, supportive and energetic Callistemon community.

Callistemon SRCs have already started cooking up some ideas for fundraising. And let’s just say, other Houses should watch out! We aren’t planning on running the usual, simple fundraisers as every other House, but we are aiming to be more creative, exciting and a lot harder to ignore or forget. We have some fresh ideas coming, and we can't wait to share them with you.

The biggest, most competitive and most awaited event is coming up on the 18th of August, Athletics Day!!! Whether you are competing or cheering from the sidelines. Your energy and support will make a huge difference. Make sure to wear your Callistemon colours, while bringing plenty of House spirit. We encourage Callistemon students to participate with full energy and earn those green chronicles by getting involved! And even if you don’t compete, we still want the biggest crowd possible, cheering loudly and supporting our House.

As we begin this term, we'd also like to recognise our Year 12 students, who are starting their final term of proper school before graduating, this time period will be both exciting and challenging as they start to prepare for their final exams. We wish them all the best!! We also warmly welcomed the Japanese Sister School students who arrived on July 23rd and are thankful to the students and teachers who hosted!

Together, we can make a term that's packed with energy, creativity and House spirit. We can't wait to see everyone get involved whether it's by competing or supporting one another!!! At the end of day  our main focus is to simply make unforgettable memories!!

Callistemon 

Hi everyone! My name is Nasreen and I’m a Year 8 SRC member from Callistemon. 

I’m really happy to be part of SRC because it gives me the chance to share my ideas and get involved, especially during our SRC meetings. I really like how everyone listens to my ideas and makes me feel supported. I also feel proud when my teachers and classmates count on me as an SRC member. 

One of the biggest highlights of Term 3 was Athletics Day. Callistemon House is very proud to have achieved 2nd place overall! But it wasn’t just about the result, it was great seeing all seven Houses participate, support their teammates and give their best. Even if some Houses didn’t place, everyone showed great effort and House spirit, and I’m really happy that we all got to enjoy the day and have a great time together.

At lunchtime, Callistemon has been looking at ways to make lunch more enjoyable, such as having small games, challenges and fun House activities for students to join in.

As Term 3 comes to an end, I hope everyone has a happy, safe and relaxing holiday. I hope you get to spend time with your friends and family, go outside, enjoy the warmer spring weather and make some good memories. Take a little time away from screens to relax, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.! I hope everyone comes back feeling refreshed and ready for Term 4.
