The Big Freeze
The Big Freeze was one of Dandenong High School's most successful fundraisers of the year․ Big Freeze is an annual Australian event created by FightMND which raises money for and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research․
It was held at Dandenong High School for the first time this year‚ organised by Mr Green‚ who has opened the event up to teachers and students to join in and help the cause․
The teachers involved were Mr Dewar‚ Mr Beattie‚ Mr Ferguson‚ Mr Penhale‚ Mr Perriam‚ Mr Guterman‚ Mr Kafrouni‚ Ms Sherry‚ Mr Dowsing‚ Mrs Davison and Mr Pawsey․
In the weeks before the event‚ students voted and donated money for the chance to participate in the big event in order to help raise funds and encourage student involvement․
On the day, many students gathered to watch and support the event. Students who were selected had the chance to pour buckets of cold water over the teachers they had voted for. The event created a positive atmosphere across the school, and students greatly enjoyed being part of it.
The Big Freeze was a great example of our school community coming together for a good cause and was a great way to raise awareness of MND and get students involved․
A big thank you to Mr Green for organising the event, to all the teachers who participated, and to all students who contributed through donations and support.

Spring Music Concert
Our end-of-term spring concert took place on Wednesday evening. It is always a pleasure to showcase our instrumental program to the school community. This year, students delivered their best performances yet.
Our ensembles have continued to develop. The orchestra, which has expanded to include more woodwind and brass instrumentalists as a result of the AELP band program, has produced a sound that is both impressive and promising for future growth.
The string ensemble has also demonstrated significant improvement in both excellence and refinement. The vocal group, keyboard ensemble and guitar ensemble also delivered exceptional performances.
This year, the Edna Dawson-Vukmirovic Scholarship recipients performed, showcasing their talents and abilities. The Rock Bands also provided excellent performances, demonstrating the performance energy they developed during their Future Artist Music Incursion.
Additionally, student-led bands were featured, organised entirely by the students without teacher involvement. These bands showcased a diverse range of musical styles, from indie to metal.
The concert was a testament to the dedication of the students and staff who have nurtured their passion for music. Their efforts have enabled them to grow into performing musicians with the potential to achieve great success in the music industry.
I would like to express my gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the concert. The program is only possible with the support of the staff and students, and their collective effort is what made the event a memorable success.
