From the Principal

Term 3 ends on a busy but memorable week for our Year 12 students. A whirlwind of practice exams, Cultural Day and their Formal Dinner on Tuesday 15th September. Best wishes to the Class of 2026 as they navigate the mixed emotions of excitement, trepidation and celebration. They will return for the first 3 weeks of Term 4, before they begin their final exams in October. 

On reflection, I think this term has been defined by the extraordinary performances of our talented Performing Arts students. We began with our Annual Chorale Competition. While Eucalyptus were crowned champions, all the choirs did an amazing job.  The quality of each group was consistently high and increased pride and confidence amongst staff and students was visible across the groups. The Eucalyptus choir moved many in the audience to tears by their outstanding rendition of Inanay, an indigenous lullaby. They were later invited to perform as part of the Acknowledgement to Country at the Regional Principal’s forum in September. They gave a beautiful performance, and I was proud to be in the audience.

The Spring Instrumental Music Concert later in the term, was another opportunity to showcase the musical talent and growing confidence of many young performers. I would like to acknowledge the incredible work of Mr Sotirakis and instrumental music teachers for their commitment in continuing to rebuild our music program after the pandemic.

The highlight of the Term though, was our production of The Wiz in August, the first musical performed at Dandenong High School in 18 years. It was a sensational show, which captivated audiences with its energy, “Motown vibes” and stellar performances. Congratulations to the students involved on stage and behind the scenes and thank you to the incredible team of staff, led by our director extraordinaire Mr Lloyd, whose hard work provided students with the opportunities to shine.

Finally, I wish you a restful holiday and a well-deserved break. I am looking forward to welcoming you all back to Term 4.
