School Reminders

Before/After School Supervision

Student safety at Essendon North Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

School staff are rostered on for playground duty during recess and lunch, and are on the entrance gates before school and after school. School grounds are supervised at the entry gates before school from 8:30am. After school, staff are allocated to supervise the exit gates until 3:30pm. In order to ensure the safety of all students, a reminder to families that our playgrounds are out of bounds before and after school. This includes the Foundation Playground, oval and Inclusive Play Space. Students on school grounds outside these times are not supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students and/or family members do not enter Essendon North Primary School outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice). Families are encouraged to contact TeamKids on 1300 035 000 or refer to https://teamkids.com.au for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.

A copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy can be found on our school website, or by contacting the office. This policy includes Essendon North Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.

Road Safety

As a reminder to our road users, please ensure that we all prioritise road safety for our whole school community when driving around our school.

This is particularly relevant at drop off and pick up times. Please see the attached document from Moonee Valley City Council as a reminder of safe practices around schools.

While we acknowledge the traffic can be disrupting and even frustrating at times, we have a shared responsibility to keep everyone in our community safe.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Funding

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) applications are now open until the end of Term Two, 2026. The CSEF helps eligible families to cover the costs of excursions, camps, and sporting activities.

If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seekers families who are not permanent residents.

It is important that funding made available in 2026 supports students to participate in excursions, camps, and sporting activities this year rather than being held for future years. This funding can also be used in conjunction with any funding accrued from previous years.

Payment amount is $400 for eligible primary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances. You only need to complete an application form if any of the following have occurred:

New student enrolments: your child has started at ENPS in Foundation to Year Six.

Changed family circumstances: such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.

If you would like to apply for the first time, please see the attached form and return to Teresa with a copy of your Health Care Card as soon as possible. ENPS can accept and process applications up until 2pm on 26th June 2026.

You can find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education's Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.
