Year Five

Term Two Writing: Information Texts

This term, our Year Five students have been diving into the world of information texts. Throughout the unit, students have explored a variety of text types, building their understanding of how information can be organised and presented to inform an audience effectively.

A strong focus has been placed on developing subject-specific vocabulary and recognising how language choices can shape meaning and clarity. Students have also examined how different layout features such as headings, subheadings, diagrams, captions and bold text are used to guide the reader and emphasise key ideas.

As part of their learning, students applied these skills by researching Blue Whales and creating their own detailed information texts. This hands on task allowed them to practise organising facts, selecting relevant information and presenting it in a clear and engaging way.

Please see below for photos of students proudly showcasing their work. We look forward to seeing their continued growth as confident and capable writers.
