Performing Arts

Hi Everyone!
Well done to all the students who completed their Drama work in Performing Arts last term! This newsletter showcases some of the highlights from the final performances in Week 10! Enjoy!
Foundation
Foundation students completed their term with a very short performance of different situations (such as biting into an apple and realising there’s a worm in it!). They did so well, using their expressive skills to show the different situations. This term, Foundation students started their dance unit called ‘Our Bodies that Move’ and they learnt how to move safely within the dance space with different dance actions.
Year One and Two
Year One and Two students finished their term with a performance of Tiddalik - the frog who drank all the water in the world. They had to use their performance skills to narrate and act out this Aboriginal dreamtime story. They started Term Two with learning about dance safety and different dance actions (jumping, turning, skipping, galloping etc) to get ready for their Dance Maps unit.
Year Three and Four
During the last week of Term One, Year Three and Four students performed to younger audiences. Year Three students performed their scripted play, called ‘Treasure Hunt’ and Year Fours performed ‘The Ting-a-ling Contest’. Both year groups did so well to memorise their lines and act out their different characters. This term, Year Three and Four students started their new dance unit called ‘Dances from Around the World’, starting with ‘Shuffling’!
Please enjoy the photos of all the different characters!
Year Five and Six
Year Five and Six students performed their Clowning routines to younger audiences during Week 10. It was a great week, full of slapstick theatre and laughter! At the beginning of this term, they started their dance unit called ‘Flash Mob’. We look forward to spotting several dance routines being performed somewhere on the school grounds during this term!
DANCE CLUB
Dance Club students delivered a passionate Harmony Day Assembly dance last term, called ‘Better Place’!
This term, Dance club will be happening on a Tuesday, straight after lunch eating time. Year One to Six students are welcome to join!
