Bring Your Bike to Kinder

During Term 3, our K4 children have been exploring how God gives us rules to help us live in community and stay safe in our neighbourhood. One of the focus is on road safety using the Seemore Safety series. To put our learning into action, the kids brought their bikes, scooters, and helmets to Kinder on Bike Day - August 13 for the Koala and August 20 for the Possums.

Everyone was bursting with excitement to show off their rides to their friends and teachers! The Koalas had a bit of drizzle on their day, but the damp weather definitely did not dampen the children's enthusiasm. After a quick safety chat at morning Circle Time, we headed out to the Primary basketball court, which we turned into a mini track complete with cones and chalk arrows. The children did an amazing job riding in one direction and quickly figured out that they needed to slow down to maintain their balance on the slick concrete when turning around the cones.

Through all the fun and laps, our little riders practiced some essential bike safety skills:

  • Wearing a correctly fitted helmet
  • Riding the right-sized bike
  • Riding safely in a group
  • Staying aware of other riders
  • Navigating around obstacles and following directions

It was a fantastic day of active learning, fresh air, and lots of smiles!
