Whole School Assembly

Last Thursday, our Prep to Year 12 community gathered for a special Whole School Assembly centred on the theme 'Awe Dweller'. Throughout the morning, students and staff were encouraged to reflect on what it means to live with a sense of wonder, gratitude, and attentiveness to God's presence in the world around us.

The assembly was a wonderful celebration of student leadership and learning across the school. Our community joined together in worship through How Great Thou Art. School Captains, Vice Captains and Primary Student Leaders all played important roles, helping to guide the assembly and unpack the theme of awe dwelling.

One of the highlights of the morning was hearing examples of how students have experienced and demonstrated awe through their learning. Junior Primary students shared their wonder about all the things Minibeasts can do and our Senior Primary students reflected on their recent trip to Canberra. Secondary students spoke about experiences that had deepened their appreciation of God's creation, diverse cultures, and the beauty of learning. Reflections from the Indonesia Trip, Humanities studies and Mathematics showed how awe can be found in service, discovery, relationships, and the natural world. A highlight was video footage from the various camp locations experienced by our students throughout their journey at MECS, with students sharing personally about the impact of these experiences.

At this assembly, students also launched the 'In Awe of God's Science' competition, encouraging others to look more closely at the wonder and complexity of God's creation (see details in this newsletter). It concluded with the presentation of Awe Dwellers certificates to recognise students who have demonstrated a genuine sense of wonder, gratitude, and engagement with God's world.

It was an encouraging and inspiring morning that reminded us that awe is not simply something we experience on special occasions, but a way of seeing and responding to God's handiwork every day. As a school community, we continue to pray that our students will grow as awe dwellers who recognise God's presence, celebrate His creation, and live lives marked by curiosity, humility, and worship.
