Dempsey's Digest

It’s all happening here at MECS! Thanks for your participation in all of the weekly events and opportunities we have to come together as a community. Thanks for the waves at Kiss and Drop and for the joy in GTs, not to mention the huge turn out to whole school assembly last week. We have much to be thankful for and celebrate!

SP Camp

I had the pleasure of popping in on a few SP classes last week to hear about how camp went. Wow! To say that the students were raving, was an understatement! Even our toughest critics thought it was great. Congratulations to our faithful SP team that brought it all together to be such a wonderful experience for everyone. No one will ever forget that the Prince of Brunei was given second place to MECS students for the attention of the Governor General!

MECS Reunions Coming!

If you are a past student and the year level that you were a part of graduated in a year ending in '6', then you are warmly invited to attend our reunion for students whose year level graduated in 1986, 1996, 2006 or 2016. The reunion (on the 17th October) will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and teachers whilst enjoying some food and drinks. There will be things to check out on the day, including tours of the school as well. Look out for further information in this newsletter.

Board Meeting and Training

Our faithful board met again last week. Usually the meetings start with an hour of governance training, but this time, our board covered some additional training in child safety as part of our compliance commitment across the school. Our board members go above and beyond in their duties as Directors of our association. We are grateful for them!

Awe Dweller Whole School Assembly

I hope you didn’t miss the assembly which allowed us to celebrate and be in awe of our wonderful God, from the obvious signs of God’s sovereignty in the beauty of our world, to the way that God has given us friends to be in awe of. What a fun and jam-packed hour of celebration, praise, laughter, singing and fun brought to us by the students themselves. I just love that our assemblies are mostly led by our students and what a great job they do!

Welcome to Secondary Evening

Our Welcome to Secondary Evening last week looked a bit different to the past, with the students having some time to get to know each other and do some activities in the gym, while the parents stayed in the theatrette to hear all that they needed to in preparation of their child starting Year 7. What an exciting time for these young people!

A Special Visitor to MECS!

We were delighted to welcome Rachel Holthouse to MECS and Ranges TEC on Friday. Rachel is the Chief Executive of Independent Schools Victoria. Rachel very much enjoyed her visit and hearing all of the wonderful things that we are doing at both campuses.
