CSEN Netball Championships - Secondary

An early start travelling to Parkville saw our senior girls and boys netball teams eager to take the court in Division 2 of the CSEN Netball Championship Day.

The girls progressed through their round robin games comfortably and continued their winning form through to the grand final. Working excellently as a team and with versatility in positions, they comfortably won the grand final 23-7 against Covenant College from Geelong. 

Our boys team also won their round robin games, with the closest margin 1 goal against Covenant, who they met again in the grand final. It was an athletic, vocal and physical game, with only a goal difference for most of the game. The boys showed great determination despite an injury setback, but unfortunately were not able to get the win, going down to Covenant by 1 goal. Some of these boys have suffered a 1 goal loss in the grand final 2 years in a row, which makes them even more determined to return for a different result next year. 

Both teams represented MECS with passion, excellent sporting spirit and a competent level of skill. It's both enjoyable and rewarding to see them enjoy the challenge, work together as a team and represent our school so well.
