GEC Mural Project

We are very excited to announce that our GEC Mural Project has started! We would like to thank the parent community who has made this project possible with funds raised over the years.

Thank you to all parents and carers, students and staff who have contributed to collecting the word "welcome" in all languages that our community speaks and who have given us ideas on how our diverse community can be represented on the mural.

We had a very inspiring session with Robert Young on Wednesday 5th November. Robert started with a Welcome to Country and a Smoking Ceremony in front of the wall opposite the canteen that will be transformed with the mural. Students, staff and parents were part of a deep conversation around the story of Glen Eira College’s community.

We, the community of GEC, respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn. We pay our respects to the ongoing cultures of the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation and the knowledge passed on from Elders past and present. Let us always remember that First Nations children play, dance, sing and learn on this place they call home. We thank them for caring for the land and its people.
