Applied Learning Awards 2025

Celebrating students outstanding achievements within VET, VCE Vocational Major and Vocational Pathways Certificate

 

The inaugural BGKLLEN Applied Learning Awards (BALA), took place on 14 October 2025 at the Leonardian Centre, St Leonard’s College, Brighton.

 

The event celebrated the achievements of students from across Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston who are excelling in applied learning pathways through the VCE, VCE VM, VET and VPC programs.

 

Awards were presented across several

categories, including the Future Vocational

Award, Future Educational Award, VCE & VCE VM.

Student of the Year, VET Student of the Year,

and VPC Student of the Year. It was an inspiring evening that highlights the creativity, resilience and achievements of local students.

 

Nominated students from Glen Eira College were:

Minnie Feder, Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) Student, (Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care) 

 

  • VCE VM Student of the Year Award. 

 

Zander Jason, Year 12 VET Student 

(Certificate III in Enabling Technologies – Holmesglen TAFE)

 

  • Excellence in Applied Learning Award.  
  • Future Vocational Pathways Award.

 

Kyle Sequeira, Year 12 VET Student 

(Certificate III in Enabling Technologies - Holmesglen TAFE) 

 

  • VET Student of the Year Award.

Minnie Feder, Year 12 VCE Vocational Major Student. Feedback from GEC VCE VM Teachers and Careers and Pathways Coordinator

 

Minnie has demonstrated a high level of motivation, independence, and maturity throughout her Vocational Education Training (VET) at Holmesglen Moorabbin campus. Her commitment to completing her Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care course alongside their school program reflects strong self-leadership and an ability to manage competing priorities with focus and determination. 

 

Minnie's ability to work independently has been a particular strength, and she consistently applies herself with discipline and purpose. She has excelled in her Structured Workplace Learning workplace tasks at Gilly's Early Childhood Centre, showing sound knowledge of workplace skills. Overall, Minnie has made excellent progress in her Early Childhood Education and Care Vocational Education and Training program.

Zander Jason, Year 12 VET Student

Zander has demonstrated exceptional commitment to his VET studies and embody the values recognized by this award.

 

Zander is consistently engaged in class, showing genuine enthusiasm for learning and a strong willingness to participate in all activities. He approaches every task with a positive attitude, persistence, and determination to succeed.

 

He is respectful, polite, and always willing to assist both his peers and teachers, contributing to a supportive and collaborative classroom environment. His attendance has been excellent, and he is diligent in his work, displaying reliability and responsibility in meeting course expectations.

 

Zander thrives in an applied learning setting, actively seeking hands-on opportunities to deepen his understanding. Non-verbal communicators account for a large part of how people perceive us at a job interview
