GLOBAL CHALLENGE PERU

2026 World Challenge Frankston Hish School Student Opportunity | GLOBAL CHALLENGE PERU

At the end of last year, 60 of our students, alongside experienced staff members Ms Cheryl Hodgson, Mr Malcolm Burt, Mr Brett Cook, Mr Jack Barbour, Ms Kate Adriaans and Ms Jasmine Rabinov, embarked on an unforgettable, action-packed adventure in Sri Lanka.

Our original destination was Nepal; however, due to civil unrest and Department of Education guidelines, we pivoted to our alternative destination — Sri Lanka — and what an extraordinary experience it proved to be!

Students immersed themselves in Sri Lankan culture, trekked through national parks, hiked lush landscapes, and ventured on wildlife safaris. They contributed to meaningful conservation projects, supporting both elephant and mangrove initiatives, and also participated in turtle conservation efforts. Following the devastating impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused flooding and landslides in parts of the country, our students volunteered at temples and a youth centre, assisting with clean-up and recovery efforts.

The experience was challenging, eye-opening and deeply rewarding. Many students described it as life-changing, and several will be attending our upcoming Parent/Carer and Student Information Session early in Term 2 to share their reflections.

NEW CHALLENGE – GLOBAL CHALLENGE PERU!

A new chapter in our International Program is about to begin — Frankston High School Global Challenge Peru!

Students currently in Years 9 and 10 will have a one-time opportunity in 2026 to register for this incredible journey, before travelling in November 2027 to explore one of South America’s most spectacular destinations.

This immersive experience will include community and conservation camps, authentic cultural connections, and awe-inspiring natural landscapes. Students will explore vibrant local markets and the historic city of Cusco, journey through the Sacred Valley, visit the breathtaking shores of Lake Titicaca, and challenge themselves with a hike to the 5,000-metre Rainbow Mountain, shaped by ancient glacial retreat.

The expedition will also include a bucket list destination — trekking the Andes Mountains via the Salkantay Trail, culminating at the iconic, world-renowned Machu Picchu.
