SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends
As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to acknowledge what has been a really positive and productive start to the year across our Senior Campus. Our students have settled well into their learning and are now fully into the demands of SACs and coursework. The way many of our students have approached this period, with focus, organisation and purpose, has been very pleasing to see.
With this in mind, it is important that students continue to build and maintain strong study routines. Consistency is key at this point in the year. We strongly encourage all students to seek support from their teachers whenever it is needed. We are fortunate to have a team of dedicated and highly skilled teachers who continually offer their time to support students both inside and outside of the classroom. Making the most of this support is an important part of achieving success.
I would also like to take this opportunity to reinforce what Excellence means within our school community. At Frankston High School, Excellence is not about being the best at everything or achieving perfect scores. It is about personal excellence, showing up each day and committing to doing your best. We place a strong emphasis on process,
effort and growth, rather than attaching value or self-worth purely to outcomes. When students consistently demonstrate Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy, they place themselves in the best position to experience success, both at school and beyond.
We continue to take great pride in our school, and this is reflected in the high expectations we hold as a community. We ask for the ongoing support of our families in reinforcing expectations around uniform. Wearing the uniform correctly is an important sign of pride and belonging. Similarly, consistent attendance and punctuality remain a key focus. Not only are there requirements around attendance, but being present, on time and ready to learn is a fundamental part of developing into a responsible young adult. We believe that habits can influence character and we appreciate the support of our fantastic parent community in reinforcing this.
Looking ahead, we have a number of exciting opportunities to commence Term 2. Our Year 12 students will take part in the Year 12 Retreat, which is always a highlight of the year. This provides a valuable opportunity to connect as a cohort, reflect on progress so far and refocus on goals for the remainder of their final year.
Our Year 11 students will also be welcomed back with a BBQ lunch on the first day of Term 2, followed by a celebration assembly and Optima session. This will be an important opportunity to reconnect, reset and build momentum for the term ahead.
We also look forward to welcoming parents, carers and families into the school on Tuesday 28 April for Parent Student Teacher Conferences. We strongly encourage all families to take this opportunity to meet with teachers, discuss their child’s progress and explore how we can work together to best support their learning. The partnership between students, families and the school is critical, and these conversations play an important role in ensuring every student is well supported.
As we head into the holiday period and the Easter break, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their contribution to a successful Term 1. I hope the break provides an opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be another positive and purposeful term ahead.
