Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a positive and productive start to the year. It has been wonderful to see our students settle quickly into their learning, demonstrating strong engagement, resilience and a commitment to doing their best. Our new students have been warmly welcomed into the school community, and it has been pleasing to see connections forming across year levels, classrooms and co-curricular activities.

Throughout the term, our staff have continued to focus on delivering a guaranteed and viable curriculum, alongside strengthening teaching practice through our Professional Learning Communities. This work ensures that every student is supported to achieve growth and success in their learning.

International Women’s Day in 2026 was celebrated on Sunday 8 March. We recognised this day on Tuesday 10 March and it was wonderful hearing from inspirational leaders:

  • Professor Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino, Professor, Research Leader and Women’s Health Innovator;
  • Sarah Klein, World Championship Marathoner, Team Captain of Australia World Athletics Championships 2025 and Educational Leader; and
  • Elli Symonds, AFLW Hawthorn player.

Thank you to our School Captains, staff and students for their outstanding work organising this wonderful event. As a school and society, we have made progress, however, need to continue to do so much more to ensure gender equality.

Thank you to Ms Kate Adriaans and Mr John Simon for their efforts organising NAPLAN this year for our Year 7 and Year 9 students. Thank you also to Ms Leah Hannas and Ms Tiffany Greenhill who were involved in the testing, along with those teachers supervising the sessions and our ICT Team.

Beyond the classroom, students have embraced a range of opportunities including music, sport, production rehearsals, camps, excursions and leadership activities. These experiences play an important role in building confidence, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging within our school.

It was fantastic for our students to be able to attend our two Year 7 Camps last week at Phillip Island. These camps offer the opportunity for our students to work together as a team, challenge and support one another. Thank you to all staff who attended to get to know our students better and ensure they have a successful transition to Frankston High School. Thank you to Ms Samantha Cody, Ms Holly Quinn, Ms Melody Westlake, Mrs Lorelle Leith and Ms Leah Hannas for their efforts organising these camps.

We have commenced our school tours for prospective (2027 onwards) Year 7 students and their families. Thank you to Ms Leah Hannas and Ms Samantha Cody for their efforts organising these, and thank you to the Principal Team for their work in leading the tours.

Frankston High School students are invited to participate in the Frankston Rotary Art Show 2026, held at the Seaford Community Centre. This show will be a fabulous opportunity for local and regional artists to showcase their work, with generous prizes on offer. Students will have the opportunity to win the student prize, “The Frankie - Frankston Young Artist Award”. We look forward to seeing our students’ work, the opening night is on Thursday 2 April and it would be great to see you there.

I would like to thank our staff for their dedication and hard work, and our families for their ongoing support. Strong partnerships between home and school are vital in helping our young people thrive.

As we head into the break, I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to rest and recharge. We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2, ready for another exciting term of learning and growth.

Mr Andrew Batchelor
