Welcome Mitsu Sensei
HEPS has the priviledge of welcoming Mitsu Sensei to our school for term 4. Please say, "konnichiwa" if you see him around the school grounds!
Origami Competition
Firstly, I am so proud of our Japanese Captains. Not only did they propose the idea of an Origami Competition, but they also organised it, created posters, came up with the judging criteria, judged the competiton, created the awards and spoke at assembly! Again and again, these students prove they absolutely deserve to be leaders of our school! Thank you Emma and Jessica!
On with the competition! We received some wonderful entries and appreciate everyone who created and submitted their origami. 3BA had the most entries!

Sustainability 🌱
Bird Watching Week is coming!
During Week 2 of Sustainability (12-16 October), our students will be taking part in the Aussie Bird Count, inspired by BirdLife Australia.
The Aussie Bird Count is a national citizen science project that encourages people to spend time observing the birds around them. The information collected helps scientists and conservationists build a better understanding of Australia’s bird populations and how they are changing. Currently, 1 in 6 Aussie birds are facing the threat of extinction and Birdlife’s goal is to stop the extinction of birds by 2032.
At school, students will head outdoors to look and listen for birds, identify the birds they see, count the birds they observe, record their findings, and contribute to real bird conservation data.
We would love families to get involved at home too! Between 19–25 October, you can choose a spot in your backyard, local park or even from a window and spend 20 minutes counting birds and learning about the different bird types just in your backyard!
Bird expertise is not required, Birdlife have created an app to help you find bird types for accurate data collection.

Happy bird watching! 🐦🌳
